In the demise of Potti Veeraiah, the Telugu film industry has lost a rare artist. Gattu Veeraiah, whom the audience know as Potti Veeraiah, died on Sunday after a heart attack. In Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, he acted in more than 500 films. Prominent actor Rajasekhar and Jeevitha Rajasekhar have paid a rich tribute to the departed soul. The couple went to meet the bereaved family of the comedian at Chitrapuri Colony in Hyderabad to extend their profoundest sympathies. On the occasion, they talked about their association with Veeraiah.
Speaking on the occasion, the duo said, “Hardly anybody is not aware of Veeraiah garu. He acted alongside all top actors. He acted in our movies, too. We knew him for a long time. He was a hero who defeated his disability, and carved a unique image for himself as an artist. He used to be a constant presence at Movie Artists Association’s General Body meetings and award functions. Veeraiah garu was a jovial person who used to make others happy. His journey in the film industry corresponded with ours. He was always accessible. His demise is saddening. We promise that we will be there for his family whenever needed.”
