After a brief gap, actor Sai Ram Shankar is back with a murder mystery titled, Oka Pathakam Prakaaram. The film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
A public prosecutor named Siddhart Anand( Sai Ram Shankar) leads a happy life with his wife Seetha( Ashima Narwal) but as a sudden development in the proceedings Seetha goes missing. To crack the case, the higher police officials appoints ACP Raghuram (Samuthirakani) as a chief investigative officer. As an assistant to him Shruti Sodhi(kavita) joins the team. As a sub plot, a series of murders will take place and throws a challenge to police department. Who is the behind the mysterious missing murders? Is there any truth behind the murders? Is Seetha dead or alive? What is the role of Chinna Babu(Kalabhavan Mani),an criminal lawyer in the entire context, that forms the rest of the story.
Plus points:
Sai Ram Shankar is good as in the given role as a public prosecutor. His mannerisms and the way he carrried the given responsible role is good and brings depth to the proceedings.
He is fit and active in the given role which is to be appreciatable. Ashima Narwal is cute on the screen and gave a decent performance. On screen chemistry between the lead pair is believable.
Samuthirakani gave a good performance in the given cop role which has a comic timing to it. Shruti Sodhi did a great job in the given purposeful role. Her attires are good as a lady cop. She has got a good character which we don’t see in regular films and she delivered an impressive performance.
Actor Kalabhavan Mani of Gemini fame got a decent role as a cunning lawyer and makes an impact in the movie. Other actors such as Pallavi Gowda among others are impressive in their given roles.
Minus points:
After a gripping first half, the proceedings in the second half fall flat at times. The curiosity among the audience dips a bit during the crucial second half proceedings. If handled in an even better manner, the applause would have been unanimous during the course of time.
Apart from it, there are no major complaints regarding the movie.
Technical aspects:
Director Vinod Vijayan should be appreciate for his picking up a concept of this kind in a crime genre. His screenplay is good and so is case with his scene order. Definitely, he is the one who is there to look up for industry people. His taking is decent and so is the case with his treatment for this mysterious murder drama.
The editing work is decent enough for the film. The cinematography by Rajeev Ravi is bright as his color grading is impressive for the entire movie. Music by Rahul Raj is good as he composed two good songs for the film. The background score by Gopi Sundar is good as uplifts the movie in a solid manner. In one word, the background score for this murder mystery is backbone. Lastly, the production values for this limited budget movie are good.
Verdict:
In an overview, Oka Pathakam Prakaaram is a decent mysterious thriller that hooks up the audience with its screenplay. The performance by Sai Ram Shankar is good and elevates the movie in an even better manner. All we suggest is to give it a try during this weekend.
